S. Haunani Apoliona wote this mele when she was president and chief executive officer of Alu Like, a nonprofit, statewide agency that administers millions annually "to assist Hawaiian natives in their efforts to achieve social and economic excellence." Haunani is an award-winning musician and songwriter and trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. She composed "E Mau ana ka Ha`aheo" for a 1991 album by the same name, which she recorded with the group Olomana.
